Candy Wars

CandyWars

The Project:

“Candy Wars” is a FPS with many innovative features!

You can build your own castle with the builder in the game and place your siege weapons wherever you want. You can use them to devastate the opponents’ castle or you can try to sneak into his castle and take him out with your crossbow. But be careful because in Candy Land everything is made of candies. So every time you kill an opponent you gain some, but then again each shot fired is wasting a few candies. So be efficient! You can play online not with one, but three other players in a free for all battle! Give them some sugar!

If we manage to win we plan on making more features for the multiplayer modes including team battles. And we hope to get a better server because we are experiencing a few problems now. Also we are probably going to change the graphics to more realistic ones.

The Team:

Our team is called Traptics, and we are many! Just kidding we are only three people currently on this project, one game designer, one programmer and one 3D artist. Please help us grow stronger!

Dwarven Insanity

DwarvenInsanity

The Project:

Dwarven Insanity adapts on the FPS games of old, “Quake” and “Unreal Tournament”, that accrued a huge community of players, and even still are thought of by many PC gamers as the pinnacle of first person shooters. Dwarven Insanity has an incredibly fast, fluid movement system, combined with projectile-based weapons, which bring in an intuitive but truly skill-based experience. All this, based in an entirely destructible environment, much like the terrain of “Worms”, which gives players a completely unique way of taking on the enemy, blowing huge holes in the terrain, setting traps and blowing the ground from the opponent’s feet. Combined with massive jumps, teleporting, and each Dwarf having a powerful jetpack, the gameplay potential for this game is new and varied. A multiplayer game like this is dependant on it’s community, and so a map editor will be combined, in order to give players the chance to create levels they desire. Dwarven Insanity will have a free-to-play model, with in-game purchases of weapon unlocks and skins, but with a focus to make sure there is no pay-to-win potential.

The Team:

A one-man team, made up of me, Chris Tacey-Green, a 20 year old Computer Science student from Manchester University. I’ve had a large amount of experience already with a range of programming languages, 3D modelling, and character animation. This is my passion, I started producing Dwarven Insanity over 6 months ago, dedicating any, and all, time I have available to making this game in Unity 3D. Funds are obviously an issue, being a student I have very little money available for the game, and so marketing and generally getting the game publicised is tough. Booths at gaming conventions, advertising, and web hosting would be required in order to get the right community to see the potential of this game. The Indie Dev Grant would help hugely in pushing this game to completion, and helping it become exactly what the community want.

Hyper Gauntlet: Legacy of Nozzlethruster III

HyperGauntlet

The Project:

Hyper Gauntlet: The Legacy of Nozzlethruster III is a manic-paced arcade first person infinite runner influenced by Super Hexagon, BIT.TRIP Runner, Wipeout and Temple Run. Players control an invisible force in an abstract and minimalist arena, constantly hurtling forwards through gaps between blue and red obstacles. As obstacles are passed and the score increases, the player runs faster and faster. To help them in their never-ending race, the player can slow down time for a few seconds to dodge through a particularly tricky section or pick up power ups to alter the flow of the game. Hyper Gauntlet you for making split-second decisions and never taking the easy way out. It is currently in Late Alpha stages, and will soon be entering a paid Beta.

The Team:

Nicholas Udell is a hobbyist British independent game developer who has been making games for his whole life – but only officially for the last couple of years. Nick has entered multiple game jams (Bacon Game Jam #5, The Arbitrary Gamejam #1 (winner),#2,#3) with games such as Fuse-Breaker, Hairball, Bohemian Political Upheaval Simulator 1618 and Leukocyte Disaster, respectively. Nick is now working on Hyper Gauntlet, a larger project that he aims to sell.

Myriad

Myriad

The Project:

Myriad is a game about making and breaking worlds, where you don’t just play but perform.

You build the stage for your performance, living geometry shaped by your actions and decisions. Space is malleable. You can grab the ground from under your feet and fly.

The rules are simple. Enemies chase you, and you must destroy them — but doing so only multiplies their numbers.

Defeated enemies leave behind space you can control, manipulate and detonate. Explode space in great chain reactions to upgrade your weapons and do it all again.

Your performance conducts a synthesized symphony, ebbing and flowing in tune with your every move, as you make a world. Then break it.

The Team:

My name is Erlend Grefsrud, and I have been developing games professionally since 2009, currently as independent developer and freelancer.

Myriad is my first solo project, the kind of game I got into development in the hopes of one day making. It’s an experiment in kinaesthetics, player agency and the plasticity of game rules.

Rebirth

Rebirth

The Project:

Rebirth is a procedural survival horror sandbox game inspired by the likes of H.P Lovecraft, Silent Hill and Amnesia. Rebirth has been Greenlit on Steam and aims to successfully combine horror and action by using Day and Night as integral parts of gameplay. During the day Rebirth plays like a survival horror shooter with emphasis on survival. At night the game takes a turn for horror. Rebirth features procedurally generated horror events, buildings, and dungeons as well as procedural events and dynamic AI. We are creating a horror game that changes every time you play!

  • Full Body Awareness – Look down, see your body. Check your body for injuries.
  • AI with senses, goals and advanced behaviors. They hunt you, hear you, and interact with each other.
  • Emergent gameplay – Random events scattered throughout the world. Perhaps you’ll walk into a house and the door will suddenly lock behind you, leaving you at the mercy of whatever vengeful entity lives within!
  • Survival based gameplay – Scavenge. Find food, weapons, medical supplies, ammo, fuel, and scavenge for shelter. Try to survive the night.
  • Barricade yourself and fortify a position.
  • RPG and Roguelike elements

The Team:

Dead Man Walking is group made up of a handful of people from all over the world. We work together through the magical powers of the internet tubes with the hopes of creating the game experiences we, as gamers, would like to see in games.

We pour all of our spare time and money into this project and have built all the systems entirely from scratch. We hope to use any funds from IDG to add things like Occulus Rift support as well as to pay for additional software to help us make the game better and better.

In Verbis Virtus

InVerbisVitrus

The Project:

In Verbis Virtus is a first person view video game that mixes action and puzzle elements in a fantasy setting, in the game you play as a wizard who can perform spells pronouncing magic formulas. The innovation introduced by this game is in the control system: the player must use a microphone to cast spells by actually saying the magic words.
While playing In Verbis Virtus you’ll find yourself completely unarmed in a dark dungeon that hides many dangers. The only way to overcome the obstacles that you’ll find is to learn the secrets of the arcane arts of magic through ancient texts that the protagonist finds along his path. These writings teach magic formulas which, if pronounced correctly, enable you to perform many spells. Using these powers in a creative way the player can solve puzzles, overcome traps and kill the enemies that try to hinder him.

The Team:

Indomitus Games is a group of young Italian artists and programmers who have joined forces to develop an innovative gaming product: In Verbis Virtus.
It all began as a university project, at the time we were just a few programmers so we needed to find people to help us with all the artistic aspects of a game (music, 3D and 2D graphics, etc…). The Indomitus team was mostly built contacting people through forums and social networks and it never stopped evolving. In Verbis Virtus is our first game as a team but during these years of development we learned a lot and we are still learning.

NOWHERE

NOWHERE

The Project:

NOWHERE aims to be a holistic first person experience set within a mystic cosmos, focusing on emergent player-driven storytelling, strong social AI and high replayability through the use of procedural content, combining gameplay elements of exploration, survival, strategy, communication and adventure.

Our story arc aims to explore human topics such as family, science, religion, politics, culture and history as well as shed light on existential themes such as fate, choice and free will, seen through the unfamiliar lens of individuals in a post humanist, post singularian alien society.

NOWHERE was born out of a personal desire to make sense of the human condition through the pursuit of new experiences. We believe that games can relate wisdom; we are convinced that playing games can lead to new perspectives and better life decisions in a fun way. With NOWHERE we aim to contribute to this line of thought.

The Team:

Lacuna Passage

LacunaPassage

The Project:

Lacuna Passage is a story-driven exploration and survival game set on Mars. The game draws inspiration from titles like “Dear Esther”, “Journey”, and “Proteus”. You play as Jessica Rainer, the only survivor of the crashed Heracles mission, investigating the disappearance of the first ever manned mission to Mars.

The Team:

We (Random Seed Games) are a small group of game designers, artists, and space enthusiasts working on Lacuna Passage in our free time. Every dime spent on the project has been from our own pockets. We would love to introduce more advanced features like support for the Oculus Rift with the money from the Indie Dev Grant.

HOPE

hope

The Project:

Build a home, build a community, build HOPE.

Hope is a first person, world and community building roleplaying game. Set in the junkpunk world of EverSky, where people live on flying structures known as “rigs”. Your role is to help build the community on a rig called “Hope”, using a wide variety of tools. You will build, enhance and maintain the rig, whilst trading, crafting and socializing with the rigs inhabitants.

EverSky is an alternate world where everything is made from salvage. The rules of physics and the laws of entropy work differently in EverSky, as you will learn as you master the physics-powered gravity gun, the remote control “build drone” and a whole array of other such tools, which allow you as a player the complete freedom to build out the rig to your own design.

You are not alone on the rig, nor is your rig alone in the world. Spend time socializing, or trading with other rigs in order to build up funds to buy new enhancements for your home. Win over the people on the rig and watch as their respect grows for your dedication to their home.

The Team:

After leaving Team17 in 2004 after working on the Worms franchise for 8 years, I spent time as an AI researcher and lecturer. Now I’ve decided to put that research into practice in a game that does something unique. Using physics-based world building and social character AI, I want to make HOPE a game world that players want to make their home.

TRI

tri

The Project:

TRI will be a first-person game with environmental puzzles; it is inspired
by great games like “Portal”, “Thief” and “Zelda”. The main gameplay
consists of creating triangles to move around, connecting platforms,
walking on walls, reflecting light rays and following strange floating
creatures in a mindbending 3D environment.

The Team:

Rat King Entertainment, a small game dev company with two members, was
founded in 2011. So far they created two commercial games, Pitman and
Tumblox, for Windows/Mac and iOS devices. They mainly work with Photoshop,
3dsmax, Unity and sometimes Haxe, and often they love to participate in
game jams like Ludum Dare and the Global Game Jam.
