Indie RPG Bundle
In Verbis Virtus is a first person view video game that mixes action and puzzle elements in a fantasy setting, in the game you play as a wizard who can perform spells pronouncing magic formulas. The innovation introduced by this game is in the control system: the player must use a microphone to cast spells by actually saying the magic words.
While playing In Verbis Virtus you’ll find yourself completely unarmed in a dark dungeon that hides many dangers. The only way to overcome the obstacles that you’ll find is to learn the secrets of the arcane arts of magic through ancient texts that the protagonist finds along his path. These writings teach magic formulas which, if pronounced correctly, enable you to perform many spells. Using these powers in a creative way the player can solve puzzles, overcome traps and kill the enemies that try to hinder him.
Indomitus Games is a group of young Italian artists and programmers who have joined forces to develop an innovative gaming product: In Verbis Virtus.
It all began as a university project, at the time we were just a few programmers so we needed to find people to help us with all the artistic aspects of a game (music, 3D and 2D graphics, etc…). The Indomitus team was mostly built contacting people through forums and social networks and it never stopped evolving. In Verbis Virtus is our first game as a team but during these years of development we learned a lot and we are still learning.
Zillion Code is an action platformer with more emphasis on the action part. The game features a combo system, skill/weapon upgrades and stat based character progression. The main feature is the protagonist’s main weapon which is a grappling claw which can be used to attack enemies as well as to climb onto a higher platforms. The game is set in a world where a machine like organism called bit fairy coexists with humans. As ages pass, some of these human and bit fairies develop an affinity for each other and can combine into a more powerful being. Things quickly go out of control when a mad scientist manages to solve the mystery behind this evolution and mass produces the effect to create an army super powered terrorists.
I enjoy making 2D games, I only recently finished Princess’ Edge, a 2D beat’em up with an amazon theme inspired from Golden Axe with magic (the magic system is more similar to Bareknuckle 3 instead of Golden Axe though) and the Dragon Riding System. The trailer is available here http://youtu.be/kwZ5oE-aOpU and here: http://youtu.be/ynnQNa6-sPs. Now I’m looking forward to expanding the game engine some more and challenging myself by making an action platformer. Making a game alone is not easy, that’s why your support is much appreciated!
Courier of the Crypts is a 2D puzzle-adventure-action game with a twist and dark ambient. You play a role of a young courier that undertakes simple delivery for the custodian of the crypts which soon turns out into a deadly advneture.
In the game, your magic torch is your friend. It will keep you warm in the cold crypts and safe from all the bad spirits that you will encounter in the lost dungeons. In order to complete each map, you will have to find the exit before your flame runs out. That won’t be easy though, because ancient parts of the crypts were sealed so no one could find out the forbidden secrets below. You’ll be facing vicious spiders, ancient mummies, tricky mechanisms and traps placed there for unwelcome guests like you. I hope you’re not afraid of these because there is much more lurking in the darkness of the crypts. Remember, use your torch and oil urns wisely or you may end up part of crypts.
Will you discover the darkest secrets of the crypts and finish the delivery?
Behind Emberheart Games there is a single developer from Slovenia who somehow manages to work on everything besides the sound and music (in his free time, yep). After many small personal projects, he “established” the studio with one goal, to make one awesome game – Courier of the Crypts. Grant would help me to get on steam greenlight and pay the composer for more ambiental music. Money will be well spent and I need your help to make Courier of the Crypts one great experience.
Pixel Myth Battle is a rock, paper, scissors style PVP card battle game. It’s a balance of chance and strategy. There are 3 suits (shadow, light and wilderness) each with a strength and weakness, and each card has a unique character. Players are dealt a hand from the same deck, then they strategically battle cards against each other to try and win the most hands. There are some utility cards that can be used to affect the outcome of the hand.
The art style uses a combination of pixel art and painted backdrops to create a charming, almost scrapbook, effect. There is a deeper story contained within the haiku (poetry) for each character, these are not essential to the game, but enrich it if the player chooses to delve in further.
The core mechanic isn’t over complicated and could be seen as a fun, fast paced, pick-up-and-play game or a gateway into more complex tabletop games.
Pixel Myth Battle is being developed in Unity 3D and is in very early production. The full gameplay, visuals and target platform(s) are yet to be defined. Some animated elements and effects will be introduced to take full advantage of it being 3D.
Megan Egglesden – Art, Co-design
Aaron Jenkins – Code, Co-design
The initial design was created by Megan Egglesden, who, after working four years in the industry decided to try making her own games. The real world prototype was taken to the pub and refined with a group of friends. After posting the idea online, former colleague Aaron Jenkins, a games designer, took a shine to it and offered to do the programming. What started out as a learning project then became a feasible game for release, one they were both excited about.
NOWHERE aims to be a holistic first person experience set within a mystic cosmos, focusing on emergent player-driven storytelling, strong social AI and high replayability through the use of procedural content, combining gameplay elements of exploration, survival, strategy, communication and adventure.
Our story arc aims to explore human topics such as family, science, religion, politics, culture and history as well as shed light on existential themes such as fate, choice and free will, seen through the unfamiliar lens of individuals in a post humanist, post singularian alien society.
NOWHERE was born out of a personal desire to make sense of the human condition through the pursuit of new experiences. We believe that games can relate wisdom; we are convinced that playing games can lead to new perspectives and better life decisions in a fun way. With NOWHERE we aim to contribute to this line of thought.
