Afterdeath

afterdeath

The Project:

Become Death, the grim reaper, and dive through a mythological multiverse to reclaim Death’s stolen scythe. Precision control over jump angles gives you the power to make your own path through each afterlife. Rely on reflexes and rapid angle changes or approach levels as a puzzle of angles to be solved with foresight – invent your own style.

Whether it’s curiosity and exploration, risk-taking, or the speed of a psychedelic rollercoaster, each world is designed to emphasize a different gameplay theme. I recreated the experience I had gaming with college roommates, passing the controller around on different levels that matched each person’s individual style. Afterdeath’s 26-track soundtrack was composed to bring the personality of each world to life and to synchronize the player with the rhythm of each level. I hope you like it!

The Team:

I’m a self-taught programmer who spends nights and weekends making this game. Through Afterdeath, I reconnected with one of my college roommates who’s a talented musician and composer. He scored the game with music created from the culture and spirit of each afterlife. Our artist unites the gameplay and music of each world.

Arnthak

Arnthak

The Project:

Arnthak is a platform/adventure game that takes place in a significantly large world (the map size is approximately 20,000 x 10,000 pixels x 2 (there’s an interior and an exterior). The storyline revolves around an Archmage returning to his land after several years of magical exile, only to find that Arnthak is under subtle attack.

Arnthak combines exploration, crafting and a customisable ‘home base’ (the Archmage’s tower) to provide an experience similar to Captain Comic 2 & Below the Root.

The Team:

The team for Arnthak consists of myself (@darkestkale, a 30 year old Robotics Engineer from Melbourne, Australia), Jay Bramhall (@jaytherobot, artist) & CFX (@cfxmusic, musician).

Specter

Specter

The Project:

Specter is an action-platformer that borrows a lot of our favorite tried-yet-true mechanics from the genre and meshes them, all while adding some new concepts to the mix.
Follow Harold, a slightly arrogant, but endearing lord, on his journey to reclaim his tower and relearn his skills. Beat challenging, beautifully handcrafted levels. Use your abilities for platforming and combat. Solve puzzles on the fly while narrowly escaping the rising lava.
Specter’s combat system forces you to think before you leap into the next horde of enemies. What’s the best combination of abilities to use in that specific situation? In what order should you kill your adversaries to be the most efficient? Those are the kind of decisions we want to encourage!

The Team:

Blair and I got to know each other during a game project which started on gamedev.net. After half a year of hard work the team of about eight drifted apart, but we stayed in touch. A few month later we found each other on a team again, but again most the team lost interest in the project. After that Blair and I decided to just start something on our own. Two days later we had a working prototype of Specter. It was fun, we decided to keep working on it and ZZep games was born!

Monkey Land 3D

MonkeyLand3d

The Project:

Based on the characters from the original, you play as Mugen the orange monkey pirate who explores new worlds looking for treasure. In this game you will be exploring huge ice caves, frozen tundras and see lots and lots of dinosaurs! You collect bananas, try to find hidden keys and open Dead Man’s Chest’s to acquire high scores and unlock new worlds! The game play is 3D platforming with spin attack action. Basically your jump is also your attack and you can find all sorts of weapons to equip as well as helmets and armors.

The Team:

I am a one man army and I might outsource music but on the original I made all the music too! I live in Seattle WA and love the pacific north west. Lived here my entire life and have studied and graduated from TWO game design schools. I hope to continue making mobile games and eventually make an amazing 3D plat-former for the next gen systems using Unreal 4 technology.

Savage: The Shard of Gosen

ShardOfGosen

The Project:

Savage: The Shard of Gosen is equal parts inspired by the Conan stories by Robert E. Howard, my fascination with Zelda II (the black sheep of the Zelda family, hehe), other games of its ilk (like Gargoyle’s Quest) and a healthy dose of general barbarian fetishism.

The final product will (hopefully) include a varied, somewhat open world to explore, an interesting little tale filled with machismo, magic and muscles, day/night cycle, overworld hunting/tracking, lots of action/platforming, fun melee system and some mild RPG elements (item use, leveling up, gear, crafting and the like).

The Team:

My name is Matt Fitzgerald and over the last year I’ve taken up work as a freelance artist, working on projects involving music, animation and film. I have been working on Savage: The Shard of Gosen for almost 4 years. It started out as a hobby project, trying to make a game for my then 5 year old brother. It’s grown in scope since then and is nearing completion, despite all sorts of wrenches thrown at it including an apartment fire (the game survived: yay!). The grant would help me cover things like submission and copyright fees, and living expenses.

Elliot Quest

ElliotQuest

The Project:

Elliot Quest is an adventure/RPG inspired by Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, one of my favorite games. In Elliot Quest, players explore the mysterious Urele Island in search of an ancient demon.

Elliot Quest Features

· An expansive island to explore with over 16 unique bosses

· Customize your character with an engaging Level-Up System

· Chain attacks to make enemies drop more items

· Experiment with different magic attacks to defeat Elliot’s enemies

· Solve puzzles to find hidden crystals and access secret areas

· 3 unique endings based on moral decisions

· Original Music by Michael Chait — listen at https://soundcloud.com/michael-chait-music/sets/elliot-quest

Story:

After Elliot’s wife disappears, he falls sick and attempts to take his own life–only to discovers that he can’t die. Plagued by nightmares and growing weaker by the day, Elliot seeks out a local Sage, who tells him that he’s the victim of a rare curse. A demon called a Satar is slowly consuming Elliot’s vitality.

If Elliot can’t find a cure to the curse before it’s too late, he will become a Satar. His only hope is to ask for the help from one of the island’s Guardians, who have kept the Satar from taking over Urele. Elliot can’t die–but he’s still running out of time.

The Team:

Animuz Games was started by me (Luis Zuno). I’ve been a web designer and developer since 1999. Before I started Elliot Quest, I made a small puzzle-platform game where you control a pink jelly creature — http://gamejolt.com/games/puzzle/slimer/12647/. But Elliot Questis the game I always wanted to make. Over the course of Elliot Quest’s development, however, several people have showed their interest in the game and offered to help out—there are a lot of Zelda 2 fans out there! Now Ansimuz games consists of collaborators from Mexico, the United States, and Canada!

Solus

solus

The Project:

Solus is a 2.5D platformer that will be available on iOS and hopefully other mobile devices. You play Solus a alien that has crash landed on a strange planet. He was transporting powercores when his ship was attacked by space pirates. He must now travel this strange land, trying to find the 6 powercores, before the space pirates get their hands on them.

Explore different areas from grass, snow and cave. Watch out for the local monsters as well as any potential traps and puzzles.

The Team:

I am Martyn, I have recently formed Zidas Studios Limited after being interested in Game Dev for several years. I am using Unity3D for the development of Solus and find it incredibly powerful. I am always up for chatting to developers and gamers via twitter :)

Zillion Code

CodeZillion

The Project:

Zillion Code is an action platformer with more emphasis on the action part. The game features a combo system, skill/weapon upgrades and stat based character progression. The main feature is the protagonist’s main weapon which is a grappling claw which can be used to attack enemies as well as to climb onto a higher platforms. The game is set in a world where a machine like organism called bit fairy coexists with humans. As ages pass, some of these human and bit fairies develop an affinity for each other and can combine into a more powerful being. Things quickly go out of control when a mad scientist manages to solve the mystery behind this evolution and mass produces the effect to create an army super powered terrorists.

The Team:

I enjoy making 2D games, I only recently finished Princess’ Edge, a 2D beat’em up with an amazon theme inspired from Golden Axe with magic (the magic system is more similar to Bareknuckle 3 instead of Golden Axe though) and the Dragon Riding System. The trailer is available here http://youtu.be/kwZ5oE-aOpU and here: http://youtu.be/ynnQNa6-sPs. Now I’m looking forward to expanding the game engine some more and challenging myself by making an action platformer. Making a game alone is not easy, that’s why your support is much appreciated!

Deep Space Dookie

DeepSpaceDooki

The Project:

Excerpt from my game story:

The story follows young Dookie trapped aboard a doomed space ship, which is heading for a black hole. In an attempt to request help from anyone the ship has become infested with aliens, pirates and crazy robots who want to strip the ship of its possesions. The last few crew of the starship need to transport all ‘Organic’ and ‘Free Range’ life off the ship via the escape pods, spare ships and the flotilla of alien vessels which are attached. In an attempt to escape the black hole the crew activate the a mysterious ‘Star Relay’ that they found whilst mining an asteroid they collected on their journey. When activated the Star Relay pulled Dookie from his home planet on board this mysterious ship.

The game will be a side scrolling 2D adventure game where the hero has to collect and deliver items, solve puzzles and battle enemies. The game is heavily based on the adventures of Dizzy and with the recent failure of ‘Dizzy Returns’ to get funding through Kickstarter I have now taken upon myself to fill the void in my life. Hopefully the Oliver Twins will not mind be creating a homage to their little egg.

The game will touch on many of the major Sci Fi movies over the past 30 years and have nod to films such as Star Gate, Star Wars, Predator and even Prometheus.

The Team:

The team is currently me. I am in marketing by day but at night I run http://www.graphic-buffet.com which is a game graphic online store for budding developers. I currently have about 5 games on the App Store that I have learned a lot of lessons from. I have many friends and colleagues all ready to work on this project but I just need to get funding in order to get the ball rolling… I am also an avid games blogger at http://www.debugdesign.com.
