A branching path through the game world, two playable characters each with their own strengths, and a customizable character development allow for multiple playthroughs. A New Game+ will present an even greater challenge for all the SwapQuest experts. Okhlos

Okhlos

The Project:

Okhlos is a game about an angry mob of ancient Greeks who set out to free the world from the gods’ tyrannical reign, while destroying pretty much everything in their way.
You will have to lead the mob throughout the main Greek cities, facing in each of them unique challenges based around the god that is worshipped there. You will have lots of fighting in Sparta, plenty of thinking to do in Athens and a lot of partying when facing Dionysius. You get the idea! Also, each unit will have its unique set of skills, making the mob unique each time you play. There will be heroes, warriors, philosophers, chickens, slaves and much more!
It is not easy to fit Okhlos into a genre. It has plenty of action but also some strategy and puzzles, sometimes all mixed in a weird way. What is sure about it, is that it has amazing 2D pixel-art sprites in a 3D world with dynamic lighting, and it is aimed to be released in early 2014 for PC/Mac/Linux.

The Team:

Okhlos is being developed by a pair of game developers from Argentina, Roque and Sebastian. Hi! Almost two years ago we left our jobs in the gaming industry to start making our own games and that is what we are doing today, working full time on Okhlos, our second project. Doctor Kvorak is an atmospheric single-player 3D adventure puzzle game for PC (and then Mac, Linux and Console) developed using Unity. The game is designed to challenge and delight players of all ages and also features a full map-editor and community map server.

After their planet is captured by the dastardly Doctor Kvorak, Greeboo and his friends find themselves trapped in the evil Doctor’s mysterious ship. The game follows Greeboo’s brave and fearless quest to rescue his comrades and save his world from certain destruction. Players will take control of three characters, each with their own special power, who must work together to traverse the Doctor’s lair full of dangerous traps and complex puzzles. But all is not what it seems….just exactly who is Doctor Kvorak, and what does he really want?

The Team:

Freekstorm is a family studio of indie game developers based in Norfolk, U.K. After successfully creating a short animated film “Doctor Kvorak Destroyer of Worlds” for an international film festival three years ago, they realised that they were rather attached to the Doctor and decided to continue his adventures in a game. They have been working on Doctor Kvorak ever since, along with the help and support of their three talented kids who all play active roles in developing the game. In true indie-style, all aspects of the game are developed in-house, including characters, assets, gameplay and full audio.

The Curious Expedition

curiousExpedition

The Project:

The Curious Expedition is a roguelike-strategy-puzzle-game set in the late 19th century in which you will venture on unprecedented expeditions to regions never seen before.

Put on the pith hat and khakis of a famous explorer and make your way through a lush, procedurally generated world full of wonder and mystery. Visit and interact with the land’s natives. Enter villages to trade and communicate with local tribes that are unknown to mankind.

Interact with exotic natives and wildlife. Battle jaguars and gorillas and, yes, dinosaurs and zombies. Loot mysterious temple ruins to gain fame and treasure, but watch out for deadly traps and curses that will compromise your men and the whole world around you.
As you explore and interact with the world, your actions will cause the region to gradually go out of balance, until the trail of chaos you left catches up and forces you to run for your life.

Adventure awaits!

The Team:

We’re two guys, working on a game we love for more than 1 year now, while still having our regular 8 hours day jobs.

Our goal is be able to go full time with The Curious Expedition. We want to work on games that would never be funded by a big publisher, but inspire us as gamers as well as developers.

Cube Drop

CubeDrop

The Project:

The game is a simple 3D isometric puzzle game where you must go from point A to point B.  The interesting part of the game comes in the form of a new game mechanic I call “relative gravity” which is really only understood after playing a few levels.  The game has a great start and every level introduces a new feature/obstacle that the player must get through.  The game is in its early prototype stages with a few playable levels.  The grant would help in getting an artist on the team and would give me more of a chance to put in more levels/obstacles/props and more!  Multi-player support for levels that require two people to finish, stunning audio/visual effects, a soundtrack, and more to come with the help of Bundle in a Box.

The Team:

The team consists of me, myself and I.  I am looking to hire an artist and grab another programmer.  With a team of three and a bit of funding, the game could really grow into something amazing.
